ABOUT THE CONFERENCE | The FPMM Medical Mission Conference will bring together speakers from medical and non-medical backgrounds with various medical mission experiences. It will be a great learning opportunity for those who are interested in organizing, participating in, or simply learning more about medical missions in the Philippines. Topics will range from the economics of organizing medical missions to lessons about Philippine culture. Though the conference is open to all who are interested, this will also serve as a general orientation for volunteers who will be participating at the Catarman 2020 Medical Mission in February 2020, so Catarman 2020 volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend. There will also be live entertainment from local artists. This Live activity, What to Expect in the Medical Mission Trip, with a beginning date of 10/12/2019, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 6.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. |
ABOUT FPMM | FPMM is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2017 in Minnesota, USA. Its goal is to provide free medical services to underserved communities in the Philippines. Since its establishment, FPMM has served around 20,000 patients during two medical missions, providing services such as outpatient consultations, including medication prescription as appropriate; major surgical, minor surgical, and dental procedures; eyeglass distribution, diabetic education, and pediatric fluoride administration. The next medical mission will be in February 2020 in Catarman, Northern Samar. FPMM also provides scholarship opportunities to promising medical students in the Philippines who do not have the means to financially support their education. Beyond the medical missions and scholarship grants, FPMM also conducts activities essential to the growth and sustainability of the organization, such as, but not limited to, organizing fundraising events and conducting bi-annual medical mission conferences. |
